Well it’s official, The Saturdays have not only topped the Scottish Charts, but have notched up their first No 1 in the Official UK Singles Chart. Their song, “What About Us” featuring rapper Sean Paul, is the band’s first worldwide single as the girls try to crack Europe and most importantly, America. Over the last few moths the group have been in Los Angeles filming their music video and promoting the single – all of which has been followed by the cameras of E! as part of their reality show Chasing The Saturdays. The show is on every Sunday at 10pm on E!
Last week’s number one, “Just Give Me A Reason”, by Pink and F.U.N.’s lead singer, Nate Ruess, has shifted down a spot to second following The Saturday’s new entry this week. As I mentioned last week, Pink is on her sixth world tour and is coming to the UK this April. Tickets are on still on sale!
Returning to third position is Mr Justin Timberlake with his hit “Mirrors”. The singer released the song’s music video this week and hinted that it was in fact dedicated to his wife, Jessica Biel, as he describes the song being about ‘someone that you feel is your other half’. Timberlake has also secured his third Official UK Number Album in a row with ‘The 20/20 Experience’.
Indie band Bastille have also moved up a position with their song “Pompeii”, claiming the fourth spot. This has allowed Bruno Mars’ ballad, “When I Was Your Man” to enter back into the Top 5 after seven weeks in the charts. Don’t forget…Tickets for his UK arena tour are on sale now!
Slowly making her way up the charts is Disney’s Bridgit Mendler, whose debut single, “Ready Or Not”, placed sixth this week. Next up, our British boys, One Direction, are still sitting nicely in the Top 10 in the seventh spot with their charity single, “One Way Or Another (Tennage Kicks)”. The band also won two Kid’s Choice Award’s this week, one for ‘Favorite Music Group’ and the other for ‘Favorite Song’. The boys are currently on the UK leg of their worldwide arena tour.
